Day 12

Day uh 12? The chalk marks have started coming off my wall.
Yep. I've missed a couple of days. More on that later, but first...
Do you feel like the whirlwind is settling down yet? Hopefully, by this point you and your students are getting into a little bit of a groove. As you settle into what seems like it will be the new "normal" for the rest of the year, think about this. You are an amazing part of a team that is accomplishing the impossible.
You are.
Yes, You.
Look, I'm not trying to throw anybody under the bus, but how many counties around us made the call to not even try to keep going? How many are giving packets that amount to little more than busy work to check boxes? How many are more worried about scheduling make-up days than what to do with the days we still have? That's not you. You're still teaching. You're still making a difference. You're still providing dynamic learning experiences for your students even while having to learn how to do it while you go. I like to call that "flying the plane while we build it."
Take a moment. Take a deep breath. Realize what you, and the rest of BCHS have managed to accomplish in such a short time. Now pat yourself on the back because (A) you deserve it, and (B) there's probably not anyone else around to do it for you.
By the way, those days that I've missed. I ran out of time to write a post before it became family time. Make sure you don't overlook them. They need you as much as your students.
Be the reason somebody smiles today.

3D Printing for Fun and Education (And Profit?) - Part 3 - Show me the Money!
"I want to know about making money with 3D printing, and you show me a picture of a lamp?" - My Reader... probably Yes, a lamp. Okay, look. There are more things we have to discuss about 3D printing, but I've teased you with the idea of profit long enough. It's time to get to it. There are some things you need to know first before you run out and buy a 3D printer, so sit tight and keep reading. First, take a moment to visit Etsy or Ebay and search for "3D Printed." Go ahead. I'll wait.... Back now? Good, let's keep going. There are tons of things for sale on the internet on platforms like Etsy and Ebay that are 3D printed. You could get in on that action too. Obviously there is a market there, and it's relatively easy and inexpensive to get started. Don't yet. Keep reading. I can tell you're excited about selling plastic trinket

Welcome to The Deposit. You want Squatters? We got 'em! You want tools? They're here too! You want asparagus? What do we look like, Hello Fresh? Get out of here with your asparagus... unless you use asparagus as a code word that means bacon. We'll enjoy that bacon. Wait... I get it now. You're not saying bacon because you don't want that sweet, adorable piggy bank pictured above to get nervous. How considerate of you. You're super sweet, but I have to tell you something. That pig... it's... not... real. Seriously. It's just a picture of a piggy bank. On the other hand, that bacon you promised me better be real. Enjoy!
